Collision?

Our dictionary of choice, www.dictionary.com, defines collision as "a crash; a striking together; forcible contact between two or more things." We believe that this is appropriate imagery to picture what happens when unbelievers meet Jesus Christ. Their lives prior to meeting Christ can be seen as a hurtling mass of destructive choices, the destination of which is hell. It takes a massive force to alter the course of their lives and nothing, and we really believe nothing, is a force massive enough to alter the lives of human beings except Jesus Christ and His gospel of hope, restoration, and reconciliation. Many people never hear about Jesus or they do and subsequently reject His offer of salvation, sealing their destiny if they persist in unbelief until their death.

The student ministry of Hillcrest Baptist Church is committed to creating and encouraging collisions between unbelievers and Jesus Christ, believing that it is only through Him that we may enter Heaven. We believe that calling our ministry "Collision" best represents what we are trying to accomplish in the student population of Carlisle, Germantown, Franklin, and anywhere else that students come from.

In an effort to foster more effective communication between us, the student leadership team, and you, the parents, we have created this blog. We intend for this blog to be the primary source of communication between us and you, the parents that are in some way connected to HBC. We believe that parents have an infinitely greater impact on their children than any student leadership team could possibly have, so we wanted to create a place where you could read about current trends in adolescent life and culture. In lieu of a mailed newletter, articles and stories of interest will be posted on this blog several times per week. in addition to that, a calendar with event information will be posted on this blog at some point so that you will have 'round-the-clock' access to all the news and information that you could possibly need, at least as it pertains to ministry information at HBC.

We pray that this blog will be a more effective way of communicating event and ministry information than the newsletter and announcements during Sunday School have been in the past. If there is anything else that we can do to promote and clarify event information please call the church office and talk to Dustin.

Thanks for checking in!
