Hey folks. We're getting some plans finalized for this summer's mission trip, and I wanted to pass along some of the details. I hope that your students have been talking with you about the mission trip, as we've been passing along details for several weeks downstairs at the Student Life and Collision gatherings. If not, here are the pertinent details that we have nailed down thus far.
1. Trip cost is $120. This covers transportation, lodging, and food. Basically, everything that each student will need to participate on the trip. Each hotel that we are staying at offers various continental breakfasts. We will be packing everyone's lunch every day, and this will consist of a PB&J sandwich, chips, drink, and dessert (cookies or something similar). Dinner will be different each night, depending on our location and what's available locally. We will provide each student with $6 cash on the evenings when fast food is the only option. On other nights, we will simply provide pizza (Deep-dish in Chicago for example) or some other meal.
2. The following hotels will accomodate our group in the various cities:
Detroit: Hampton Inn & Suites
Chicago: Days Inn
St. Louis: Comfort Inn
Each hotel has been selected for it's proximity to our ministry locations, provision of continental breakfast, and value. We're not staying in lavish luxury hotels, but we're not staying in slummy hotels either. Each room will have 2 double beds with 4 occupants each. The adult chaperones (we're still working this one out- we'll get it resolved shortly) will be split up, staying in rooms with 3 other students. Some of the more responsible students will be in rooms without an adult, but the rooms have been reserved in a block, so we're all close together.
3. Permission slips (these are available in the Crash Room) are due Sunday, March 29th, along with a $40 non-refundable deposit. We'll be having a meeting sometime in April to discuss the trip and the requirements for participation. The requirements will consist of weekly church attendance, participation in a pre-trip Bible study, attendance at preparation meetings, and participation in a service project (The dates and times for the preparation meetings and service project TBA).
As always, feel free to contact Dustin at the church office or via email with questions.
